FIGHTING TO OVERCOME

A CHEERFUL HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE, BUT A BROKEN SPIRIT SAPS A PERSON’S STRENGTH.” PROVERBS 17:22

Just what does it take to overcome a broken spirit? If we are surrounded by those who talk nothing but negative words, fear and sad thoughts, then that is what we will absorb in our spirit. We are like a sponge that absorbs the water around it. It doesn’t matter whether the water is clean or dirty the sponge absorbs it. We sometimes act much like a sponge. We take in and live what we learn from those around us. Some of us have been taught well and reflect the good things of life. Others of us have not been so fortunate and we reflect the ugly things of life. As followers of Christ Jesus, we must stay close to him and absorb his thoughts and promises. When we do, our faith begins to grow, and we begin to live lives that represent cheerfulness and love for others. We don’t sap the strength of others, but we add to their strength with God’s good medicine. Our lives must be surrounded and influenced by the word of God in heaven. We must make him the center of our life so that we can be a positive influence on others around us. We must work at this because the devil is working hard to take opportunities away from us that allows Jesus to influence us. We must pray continuously and meditate upon his word often. When we do, our spirits become one with him and our actions reflect our relationship with Jesus! PRAISE THE LORD IN ALL THINGS!
