” For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” 2 Peter 2:19
The word control means to “exercise, restraining or directing influence over.” Have you ever taken a step back from your busy life and considered the question, WHO CONTROLS YOU? We can be controlled by many different things. We can be controlled by our spouse, our boss, alcohol, drugs, our friends, words, threats, ourselves and just about anything else that we allow to control us. When we are controlled, our lives are directed in such a way that allows, whoever or whatever is controlling us, to benefit. We do what they ask or what they direct us to do. Our benefit for being controlled is usually zero. We often agree to do things or act in ways that we may not agree with. In many cases we reap nothing but aggravation, pain and suffering. To be controlled by the world does not allow us to share ideas and thoughts but instead to be a slave. Fear often drives worldly control. However, we do have an option. Jesus has offered to be our Lord and Savior. We are to surround ourselves with his ideas, his thoughts and his ways. He died so that we can live. If we are willing to live a life surrounded by the love of our Lord, then he will be in control and not us. If we are allowing him to direct our paths, then we will be rewarded with peace of mind and the feel of his loving arms around us. His control is driven by his love for us and not hate. His control surrounds us with joy, peace, love and strength in our lives. He is our Lord and not the world around us. He will lead us in what we do and what we say. He controls the way we live our lives and not the world around us. Who is in control of your life? Who is your first go to resource in your time of need? Jesus is available. PRAISE THE LORD IN ALL THINGS!
