TODAY’S SCRIPTURES: “PETER DECLARED,’ EVEN IF EVERYONE ELSE DESERTS YOU, I NEVER WILL.’ ” MATTHEW 26:23 —– ” KEEP ALERT AND PRAY. OTHERWISE, TEMPTATION WILL OVERPOWER YOU. FOR THOUGH THE SPIRIT IS WILLING ENOUGH, THE BODY IS WEAK.” MATTHEW 26:41
TODAY’S MESSAGE: Sometimes when we follow Jesus, we try to become too perfect in our walk. We try to do things that we are unable to do as humans. We believe ourselves to be perfect when in reality we are not and never will be perfect while we live on this earth. I have found myself in this boat. While I am to strive to be the perfect follower, I must recognize that I am a human who was born a sinner, and just because I have accepted Jesus, doesn’t mean that I will not occasionally fall flat on my face by making mistakes in my life. I sometimes forget, but must always remember, that is why Jesus died on the cross. He took the sins that I commit, the mistakes that occur in my life, to the cross with him and died for each. All I must do is remember to go directly to him to repent and ask for forgiveness. We must all be cautious as the devil tries to use the goodness of our God and turn it around for his benefit. We have to continue to watch and pray as we are instructed to do and be careful in our actions as we continue to follow God’s ways. It is our duty to strive to be perfect in our lives. We are to do our best in our efforts to do good and live our lives with love, forgiveness and compassion for others. But we must also remember that we will falter at times. However, our Lord thoroughly understands our humanness, and because of our earthly tendencies to sin, he gave his son Jesus Christ to die for all of our missteps and failures. We must not feel that if we make a mistake in our life that we are not going to get to heaven. We instead, must remember that when we fall, Jesus is there to pick us up and make us right. PRAISE THE LORD IN ALL SITUATIONS!
