TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: “You have heard that the law of Moses says, ‘ Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you.’ ” Matthew 5: 43-44
TODAY’S MESSAGE: We have very difficult assignments as displayed by Jesus Christ. We are to love our enemies and to pray for them. It doesn’t matter how badly they have persecuted us we are still to love them and to go the prayer for them. Just as Jesus did when he walked the earth, we are to go into the trenches of life and meet those who differ from us and may even hate us. We are to bring the word to each and make sure they hear the good news of salvation and eternal life. This becomes difficult because our human nature tells us to do just the opposite. It is our worldly nature to hate those who hate us. It is our way to hurt those who hurt us. But that is not the way of Christ. He healed the sick and prayed for his enemies. He never persecuted those who disagreed with him, nor did he talk bad about them behind their backs. He did nothing short of showing love for all and continued to live the life that his Father in heaven sent him to do. If you and I do not carry the Holy Word of God and his Salvation Message to the world around us, then how will they hear it? It is our lives and the way we live them that become the outlet for God to use in this world. Yes, God could do it on his own, but he instead has chosen to use us as his instruments. It is his will that we as his children put ourselves out there and show the unsaved the way to eternal life. Jesus is love. He is not hate and persecution. Our assignment is not an easy one. But it is one of necessity and of extreme urgency. We are to love and not hate and to do good and not persecute. JESUS IS LORD! PRAISE THE LORD IN ALL SITUATIONS!
