TODAY’S SCRIPTURES: “Prove by the way you live that you have really turned from your sins and turned to God.” Luke 3:8
” But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God- who chose you to be his children- is holy. For he himself has said, ‘ You must be holy because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16
” For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.” 1 Peter 1:23
TODAY’S MESSAGE: Just what does it mean to be holy? Being holy is to live our lives in a way that reflects God’s glory, rather than conforming to the ways of the world. It means that we must understand God’s rules and to abide by them. This is not an easy task. It takes a lot of discipline to be able to do this successfully. We talk about living our lives through Jesus a lot in this blog. I continue spread God’s message as he gives it to me each day. Today our Lord has emphasized that the time is short and that our lives must continue to be cleansed. It is important that we take a step back from the busy schedules we all entertain and re-examine our lives in Christ Jesus. Just as God tells us in 1 Peter 1: 15-16, we are to pattern our lives in the shadow our Lord God. We are to be holy because he is holy. He made us in his image and if we are not allowing ourselves to submit to his desires, then we are failing in the way we represent him to others. If we call ourselves Christians and continue to tell lies or to gain riches in non-Christian’s ways, then we are not living our live in holiness. If we can look back at our lives from before being born again and continue to see the same actions as we took back then, then we are not living a holy life. We are to shun all sin and keep every known commandment. We should have a strong desire to do his will and a great fear of displeasing Him. We are not to let ridicule, persecution or embarrassment from the world be a hindrance in our holy lives. We must be dedicated to his Holy Word, learn it, meditate upon it and live it. When we do, our lives will be much fuller and much richer.
