DONT ALLOW FEAR TO SINK YOU!

So, Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and waves, he was terrified and began to sink.” Matthew 14:29-30

Peter was doing something no other man had done except Jesus. He walks on the water and moves toward Jesus; he had to throw out all of the worldly thoughts of fear and worry and just focus on the Lord. When he saw the Lord, he went to him as quickly as he could. However, when he saw the greatness of the wind and the waves, he began to take his focus off of Jesus and return to his worldly understanding. He forgot about his faith and his strength, both of which were given to him by Jesus. Instead, he concentrated on the fear of falling into the water and drowning. Listening to the world will do that to us all. It will take away our strength and belittle our faith to a point of consuming it completely. With the encouragement of Jesus, our lives become consumed with fear, problems and sadness. What joy we have lasts only a short time and then becomes missing again. Jesus is always there to extend his hand so that we can take hold and be pulled from the ways of this world. So, the next time you are confronted with problems, turn your focus to Jesus. He is the one who has taken our burdens and nailed them to the cross. Give thanks to the Lord our God in heaven for his gift of sacrifice so greatly displayed by his son Jesus Christ! PRAISE THE LORD IN ALL THINGS!
