“Our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.” Romans 6:6
“Consider yourselves to be dead in sin, but alive in God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:11
“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Before we came to Christ, sin had a choke hold on our lives, and we could do nothing but serve it as obedient slaves. However, through the death and resurrection of Christ, we have received a new nature and power to live for God. If we have died to sin, by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we will have the resurrected life of Christ within us. Neither sin nor death will ever be our master again. Death has been defeated because He gives us life without end in heaven itself. However, until we reach our new heavenly home we are to reach out to the Holy Spirit and draw upon His power, to put to death, the sin that still wants to express itself in our lives. We deserve death itself for the sins we have committed. However, God has given His Son as the living sacrifice to die for us, so that we can have our past wiped clean of the sin and evil that once existed within us. All of our good works cannot land us a place in heaven. Our only hope is to receive the free gift given to us by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! PRAISE THE LORD IN ALL THINGS!
